Burma Ruby, Oval Cut, 2.35 CT
Like a juicy raspberry ripening in the morning sun, this natural Burmese ruby is as luscious as it looks. It hails from Burma (Myanmar), revered for producing the most glorious rubies in the world. Its color is naturally this lovely purplish-red, with no indications of heat treatment. This Burmese ruby also has incredible clarity, offering little interruption in the path of light through the stone. That way, the light can play off the facets of its mixed cut for maximum sparkle. The slightly elongated oval shape of this Burmese ruby also has excellent proportions. We think it would make the most delectable jewel.
This ruby is certified as a Burmese ruby with no heat treatment by the American Gemological Laboratories.
AGL Report: 1103634
For centuries, the Mogok Stone Tract of Burma, otherwise known as modern-day Myanmar, has provided the world with its finest rubies. Burmese rubies are renowned for their clarity, silk inclusions that give them a soft glow, and, of course, their vibrant color—a combination of purplish-red body color and fiery red fluorescence, with the most coveted called “pigeon’s blood.” Today, with most of the alluvial deposits in the region depleted, Burmese rubies are among the most valuable and prestigious of all gemstones.
