Pear Shape, Colombian Emerald Earrings, 13.36 CT
An ancient legend describes the creation of Colombian emeralds as the tears shed by a woman, Fura, who did not remain faithful to her husband, Tena, and therefore defied the Muisca god Are’s request and lost her right to eternal life. One can imagine that the teardrop-shaped Colombian emeralds in these gorgeous earrings designed by Jogani are from Fura herself. The vibrant green color and lovely luminosity are indicative of the finest emeralds from the region. They total more than 13.36 carats and are suspended from a matching pair of smaller emeralds. The gold collets were sculpted with a scallop design in 18-karat yellow gold and mirror the curves of the gems.
The larger emeralds are certified as Colombian emeralds with minor to moderate traditional oil enhancement by the American Gemological Laboratories. AGL Report: 10970034
Few gemstones on the market today offer the beauty, value, history and intrigue like that of Colombian emeralds. Originating mainly in the renowned Muzo, Chivor and Coscuez mines, Colombian emeralds are the only emeralds to form in sedimentary rock, where the geological process gives them their coveted green color, intense color saturation and gorgeous internal qualities. From natives of the New World to modern-day royalty, Colombian emeralds are one of the most sought-after and precious gemstones in the world. To learn more about Colombian emeralds, click here.
