Blue Ceylon Sapphire Cabochon Gold Ring

This bold jewel reminds us of a “vessel ring,” reportedly made popular in Europe during the 16th century. But instead of containing poison or another substance to bring about an enemy’s or the wearer’s demise, it seems to capture a magical healing elixir in a well of molten yellow gold. That “elixir” is a beautiful blue sapphire cabochon from Sri Lanka (Ceylon).

The components of the ring utterly complement each other, melding together in a dramatic curvilinear design that looks as if it drips around the finger.
